Frequently Asked Questions

For whom is this residency?
  • The Residency is an especially good fit for people who are graduating college or grad school, are in a job transition, and/or have the flexibility to move for a six-month learning experience.
  • Key desired qualities are that you have a love for Jesus, a heart for the poor and unreached, a learner's disposition, and are willing to step out of your comfort zone to engage in the community.
  • We also ask that you are able to commit to a six-month residency with 2-3 months of prep time.
When is the residency?
July 6 - December 18, 2020
At the end of six months, what will I have gained if I go through the curriculum and experiences?
  • Exposure to the “vulnerable four”  (the poor, immigrants/refugees, widows, fatherless)
  • Knowledge about and a set of skills for implementing a whole-life discipleship approach
  • Resources and contacts -  both within D4D, the Navs, ATL, and your cohort
  • A holistic theological paradigm
  • Field/work experience in a type of development work
What does the residency cost?
The six month residency will cost approximately $7,250. Most participants choose to raise funds through The Navigators to cover the costs; however, fundraising is not required. For those who choose to raise funds, fundraising training will be provided to help make support raising as fruitful as possible.
Can Married or Engaged Couples Participate in the Residency?
Yes. We welcome singles, engaged, and married couples.  Spend some time talking it over with your significant other and praying together about coming.  Engaged couples will be housed separately.
Are we required to find housing?
Housing has been selected and will be provided for the residents. Housing will be located within 10-30 minutes of the field experiences.
How Many People will participate in the Residency?
We are looking for a cohort of six participants.
What is the Field Placement?
You will be paired with Peace Prep Academy, an organization in the Atlanta area who shares the same heart and uses many of the same principles as D4D. During these 10-20 hours/week volunteer experiences, you will get hands-on, real-life training so you can put what you learn into practice. To find out more about Peace Prep, please visit :
